A tiny plea

Dear would-be home owners,

Just a tiny plea.

Do not look at a house and think, this is exactly what I want, tempting as it may be.

Renovating is an opportunity to create our most important space: personal dwelling. Home is personal expression because we are all energised, excited, soothed and satiated by different experiences.

Be inspired, be amazed, even copy elements of another person’s home but try to keep it personal.

Surround yourself with objects that have meaning to you (fridge magnets, souvenirs, your grandfather’s chair). Choose materials that give you a positive feeling, even if you cant explain why.

If a dining chair isn’t perfect, wait till the right one comes along - do not settle.

Much thought, shopping, time and effort is needed, but we assure you, it will be worth it.
